According to the Hong Kong Companies Ordinance, the annual financial statements of a Hong Kong Limited Company must be audited by a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Hong Kong for presentation in the annual general meeting to shareholders. Audited financial statements are further required to be submitted, unless exempted, for yearly review and profits tax assessment by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) of Hong Kong.
In today’s more integrated business environment, audit documents are of importance to shareholders as well as a much wider range of interest groups, such as banks, creditors and strategic trade partners, and other stakeholders. Stakeholder information, reporting and disclosure is a critical undertaking for business management. Being able to meet stakeholders’ expectations begins with the completeness, accuracy, true and fair presentation of information in financial statements and disclosures. The audit is key to sustaining confidence in an organization and can positively influence stakeholders and investor relations.
